I’d like to continue my previous post here. I talked about I’m using Kingston HyperX memory, Cooler Master Heatsink and 2 SATA Hardisk. Here you go...



Why I choose to use HyperX memory instead of using normal DDR 2? That's because HyperX DDR2 modules are specifically engineered and designed to meet the rigorous requirements of PC enthusiasts. For microprocessor heat sink, I'm using Cooler Master Brand. Anyway, some user they prefer using Liquid coolant technology. Coolant technology is good but it is troublesome as need to maintain the coolant that's why I'm not using it.


For Hard disk, I prefer using WD brand because of their stabilities and quality. I have 2 units of hard disks in one casing, there are:
1 HD = 500G (I used for WinXP)
1 HD = 750G (I used for Win Vista)


Well, you might want to know what about my graphic card then? I'm using 7600GT. I still haven’t thinking of changing it for the time being as with my QX9650 processor and 4G memory is enough for me to play RA3 without any lagging issue.

Let me talk about my Power Supply and CPU (Microprocessor). Both items are the core devices in computer.

Power Supply (PS) - I use Cooler Master eXtreme Power 650W SLI Ready (below diagram). This type of PS provide about 650W with MTBF ~100k hours. Meaning it has about 11.4 year of life spend. It cost me about RM 280.

4 pin x 6 Peripheral Connectors (Usually use for old IDE Hard disk or DVD).

My New High Tech PC Part#1

Today I was decided to upgrade my computer from Pentium 4 Hyper Trading 3GHz to Intel Quad Core QX9650 3GHz. Why I want to upgrade? Because of new Technology which saving my house energy and give me faster speed when launch the operation/application software (OS/AS). OS means your Windows XP, Vista, Linux, Sun and etc. AS means your Microsoft Office (Excel, Power point, Words and etc.), Gaming software, AutoCAD, Antivirus and etc.

Usually one PC consists of Motherboard, Memory, Microprocessor, Graphic Card, Hard Disk, DVD RW, Power Supply, Casing, LCD, Speaker, Keyboard and Mouse. The most important are Motherboard, Microprocessor, Memory and Graphic Card. But there are one important device which everyone seems to ignore it is Power Supply. No matter how advance devices install into your PC but without a stable Power Supply your computer will keep rebooting or hang.

Today part #1 I want to show you my latest motherboard. The reason I choose this Gigabyte MB is because I trusted to this company MB and so far I have been using this brand MB for up to 3 generations already and is without any single problem occur. This MB cost me RM490.


This MB comes with 2 oz copper layer. What is this mean? Every circuit board has its own design and comes with multi layer. You may think that the MB itself just in 1 big piece of board but actually inside the board has many layers and each layer has its own copper traces. These copper traces are actually carries electron or signal to your devices. Just imaging the traces is like the road when you are driving in either a freeway or a small road...which one you prefer to drive in? Sure we choose to be drive in the freeway...wide, smooth and faster lane! This is some theory on MB copper traces. But for those who know technology, more copper meaning more resistance. Surprisingly, Gigabyte can solve this issue in this board.

Here is the information about energy saving. After I install and launch the software, every second it shows how much I have save the energy. But I not really can I trust the technology. :P

This is the new motherboard that I just purchased. As you can see the Southbridge chipset cover up with the new technology heat sink. This will gave the Southbridge chipset more stable in proceeding its job.

Wireless Phone

I bought this wireless phone (with speaker phone) from US. It comes with 3 sets of hand set with voice mail system. It is cool! With the wireless, I will not get any miss call even I’m in toilet...hah! I just love it.

Furthermore, it has the speaker phone features that make my life easier when I have a conference meeting (at home) with my abroad colleagues as I do not need to hold the phone set for 1 to 2 hours meeting.

Mobile Phone

Now a day mobile phone becoming one of our lives must have gadget toy. A lot of mobile phone right now come with a lot of special features and build in a lot of high technology application. You may use it for surfing internet, listen music, watching movie or TV, Messaging or SMS, phone call and GPS…. Etc. I also bought one of the high technology phones for my wife 1 year back with GPS build in technology. At least when she lost in somewhere still can find the way home especially in Kuala Lumpur. So a lot of mobile company actually has been developed and they get a huge profit through Mobile Marketing Company because they actually provided a lot of good services. Talk about GPS Devices

GPS called Global Positioning System which received satellite signal from satellite to earth or your GPS device. By another words, it actually transfer the signal to your GPS system and located your current position and translate into the software.

Every time when I travel to oversea for my business assignment, I will ask my travel agent to book the car with GPS system. This GPS system actually helps me a lot especially from Airport to Hotel or shopping or any tourist attraction area. In the market, there are actually have a lot of different brand of GPS systems but what I highly recommended is Garmin brand.

Why we want to buy GPS systems and how actually it helps us during travel? A lot of people might think and said GPS system very expensive and costly. We can use paper maps instead of GPS system. But if we have this kind of thinking than it is wrong because GPS not only give us step by step direction but also tell us shortage way to reach our destination and a lot of valuable information we may get it, for example, traffic information on road, gas or petrol station, hotel, restaurant and etc. But we have to choose some reliable software as well like Tom-Tom software. They actually have very good website that allowed us to upgrade our map for free compare to other company we have to keep purchase new version of software. But of cause we need to have Tom-Tom GPS system in order to download free map.

I personally have bought a unit of Garmin GPS receiver a few years back. I hook it up to my laptop and my latest cell phone and it will ease me when travel to oversea. Don’t you think to purchase one? I bet you, you will going to love it later.

My Free DVD Player

I’ve been using Pioneer DVD player for 4 years already and recently it can’t play movie smoothly. I think it should be achieve its maximum life span now. So I decided to use my credit card point to exchange one unit of Phillips DVD player. It required 73000 point to do the redemption.

Anyway, after setting up this Philips DVD player, I found that the sound quality is not meeting my expectation. It is using analog 6 channel output with DTS features but then it does not have coaxial cable port to connect to my Yamaha amplifier.

This DVD player comes with HDMI technology that can upscale to 1080p high definition for sharper pictures.
